Broad Ripple Avenue was named 63rd Street. 63rd Street curved down to 62nd Street near Broad Ripple Park.

Broad Ripple Avenue Restriping
In 2003 Broad Ripple Avenue was restriped to reduce to one lane in each direction with a center turn lane. There was much controversy about this change. The slowing of traffic through the Village (congestion) was intentional.
